He is Risen: An Easter Poem

HE IS RISEN

Betrayed by a kiss
Without raising a fist

Accused yet innocent
For this reason He was sent

Beaten, mocked, and crucified
Nails in his hands, pierced in his side

A spotless sacrifice
Nothing else would suffice

He hung there in our place
For judgment we won’t taste

Darkness fell upon everyone
At the death of God’s Son

Buried his body lay
Until He arose on the third day

He is risen, did you hear?
Death we no longer need to fear

He is risen, he is risen indeed
Sin’s guilt and power must now concede

He is risen, did you hear?
Go and tell those far and near

He is risen, and will come again
Just as He did then ascend

He is risen, He is risen indeed
In Him we have now all we need

He is risen,
He is risen indeed!
